As a child, I was always keen on creating art. As an adult, my years at Christie’s New York in the Japanese as well as the Impressionist and Modern Paintings and Drawings departments rekindled my desire to create again and led to my eventual enrollment at the International Center of Photography in New York City. My work has no doubt been influenced by the art I was exposed to during my times at Christie’s – painterly and lush with colors. My images are cropped oftentimes to focus on that which is the most captivating to me. Windows are often used as frames, reflections as an added layer of the fleeting moment and colors as a means to evoke an expressive emotion. I love the way the lens will surprise me by merging the colors, lines and textures to form an ephemeral image of our every day life.
Born in Tokyo, Japan, I spent my childhood in India, Canada, Japan, the Soviet Union and the United States where I graduated from Northwestern University. My married life has brought me to Belarus, Poland (where my daughter was born), the United Kingdom, back to the United States and my current residence in the Netherlands.
My work has been included in juried group exhibitions in New York City and a group exhibition in The Hague, Netherlands.
